The German automaker is said to be nearing a deal with China's Great Wall Motor Co to build MINI models for export, unnamed sources tell Bloomberg.

MINI's Oxford plant recently celebrated its three-millionth unit since opening in 2001 to relaunch the classic British marque. BMW Group has spent around $2.3 billion on MINI's UK manufacturing operations.

Talk of a production facility in China arrives just weeks after MINI unveiled its first Electric Concept, previewing a production car that aims to carry the brand into the EV era.
