Infiniti is going retro with its new concept car.

Infiniti has revealed the front end design if its concept vintage race car set to debut later this month at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Known as the Prototype 9, the concept in intended to mimic a race car from the 1940s. In fact, the Prototype 9 was built with old school techniques; it's built on a separate ladder chassis, it's body panels are hand-formed steel and it employs a leaf-spring suspension.

But the Prototype 9 isn't all vintage. It's powered by an electric motor that produces 148 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. In all likelihood, that electric motor is a preview of the unit that will be used in the next-generation Nissan Leaf electric.

Infiniti says the Prototype 9 can accelerate from 0-62 in 5.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 105mph.

Dimensionally, the Prototype 9 is about 3.5 inches longer than the QX30, but about half an inch wider than the compact utility vehicle. The concept's styling is decidedly vintage, but the car does include an interpretation of Infiniti's modern radiator grille.
