The 86 will compete in two Pirelli World Challenge events in Utah.Toyota's 86 is ready to hit the track. A purpose-built coupe developed by the company's Motorsport division will participate in the two Pirelli World Challenge (PCW) events this month."Our Toyota 86 is a potent car right out of the box, but it gets even hotter with a full lineup of TRD parts and accessories," the company promised in a statement. It hasn't highlighted the mechanical modifications required to transform the 86 into a worthy competitor on the track.
Photos of the car suggest it receives bigger brakes, a stripped-down interior with a full roll cage, and a sizable wing attached to the trunk lid.
The 86 will compete in the TCA class, which means it will need to fend off competition from similarly-modified variants of the Honda Civic Si, the Kia Forte Koup, the Mazda MX-5 Miata, and the MINI Cooper S.
Toyota's race-ready 86 cup car will make its debut on August 11 at the Utah Motorsports Campus in Tooele, Utah. Book a flight to Salt Lake City if you want to see it in action, because Toyota warns it's only scheduled to race in the two PCW events taking place in the Beehive State.
